June 5 – World Environment Day
Through World Environment Day (WED), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) gives a human face to environmental issues and enables people to realize not only their responsibility, but also their power to become agents for change. Here UNEP’s Executive Director, Achim Steiner, encourages participation in World Environment Day at a local level and highlights the need to preserve biodiversity for the benefit of us all.
